Review of 2016/17 season

We've had another great season at Glenearn Badminton Club.  One of the highlights came in the last competitive match of the season, when Glenearn A won the Campus Cup for the second year in succession, defeating Taybank in the final.

In the Perth & District Badminton League, Glenearn A finished 5th of 6 teams in Division 1.  That was slightly below the team's expectations at the start of the season but the team still won four matches out of ten, which meant it only missed out on 4th place on sets difference.  In Division 2, Glenearn B finished 4th and Glenearn C finished 5th, out of 8 teams.

Glenearn C reached the semi-finals of the Campus Trophy but could not match a strong team from Perth Junior Badminton Coaching Club, the eventual winners of the competition in 2017.

Our Monday club nights moved to Perth College UHI's new Academy of Sport and Wellbeing from January 2017.  We were disappointed to leave Glenearn Community Campus, which had been a great venue for us but as the Club has continued to expand, the three courts at the Community Campus were too few for our needs.  We now share six courts on Mondays (three in the summer) with Taybank Badminton Club.  Our Thursday sessions have continued at Bell's Sports Centre, with occasional visits to Live Active Letham.

We were delighted to launch Glenearn Junior Badminton Club (www.glenearnjuniors.co.uk) in 2017 - our new club for 13 to 17 year olds.  We're pleased to have welcomed so many boys and girls to the Club and we hope we can continue to build on that.

Our Monday club nights continue throughout the summer.  Our Thursday club nights stop for July & August but should return in September.  We wish all our members and friends a good summer, and we're looking forward to another successful season in 2017/18.
