GLENEARN A - 2017 CAMPUS CUP WINNERS

The club participates in various competitions.  More information is provided below.

PERTH & DISTRICT BADMINTON ASSOCIATION - LEAGUE

The Perth & District Badminton Association operates a league in which clubs from the local area compete.  The league is split into two divisions.  Each league team comprises six players, usually four gents and two ladies, although the same individuals need not necessarily play in each match.  League matches comprise a mix of gents doubles, ladies doubles and mixed doubles.

The Club has four teams in the league: in 2018/19, Glenearn A plays in Division 1 while Glenearn B, Glenearn C and Glenearn D play in Division 2.

PERTH & DISTRICT BADMINTON ASSOCIATION - CUPS

The Perth & District Badminton Association operates cup competitions in which league teams compete in a knock out competition.  The cup competitions are handicapped meaning that each team should have an equal chance of winning the competition (that's the theory anyway!).

Glenearn A is the holder of the Campus Cup, having won the competition in each of 2018, 2017 and 2016.   The last time a team from the Club won the Campus Trophy was in 2010, when Glenearn B was champion. Glenearn B came close to lifting the trophy again in 2015, narrowly losing out by 10 sets to 8 in the final against Kinross B.

PERTH & DISTRICT BADMINTON ASSOCIATION - MIXED DRAW

Usually once a year, the Perth & District Badminton Association holds a fun mixed doubles tournament.  This takes place on a single night, is open to anyone to enter and the double pairings are drawn out of a hat.  A good number of players from the Club have participated in this fun tournament in recent years.

MIDLANDS INTER-CLUB TOURNAMENT

Glenearn A has entered in team in the Midlands inter-club tournament in recent years and has involved players from other clubs such as Harris and Forgandenny in the team.  Glenearn A has enjoyed the test of playing against high-quality opposition from across the Midlands area in that competition.

CLUB TOURNAMENT

The Club itself runs tournaments for its members from time to time.  These are usually fun, informal affairs that take place on a regular Club night.  In March 2017, we had a joint fun tournament with Taybank Badminton Club.

Several of our players participate in other tournaments.  Over the past year, players have participated in badminton ladders in Dunfermline and Crieff, and Badminton Scotland tournaments in Glasgow.
